Post it notes with observations about user needs

Information for older people

This pilot brought together government information for people over 65. To begin, we ran Govt.nz’s first discovery phase, following GDS’s model. I facilitated the team through the design process of user research, ideation, prototyping and refinement.

One of the main outputs of this work was a process template. When testing with older users, some told us they find it difficult to stay focussed on lengthy or complex tasks. As a result, we created a template that steps people through a process, usually applying for a service. Standard headings based on putting what’s most important first made it easier for people, breaking long pages into manageable chunks.
